How the coaching works

A teaching approach built on practice and plain feedback

Who the programme suits, what you bring to the first session, and how each practice cycle runs from rehearsal to written notes you can use again.

Who it is for

Made for adults who record or host on camera

spotlytora works with adults who record business videos or host live streams and want to feel more at ease doing it. You do not need acting experience or broadcast training. If you can read a short script and are willing to repeat a take, you can start.

Business video makers

Many learners record training clips, product explainers, internal updates or client messages. They know their subject well but sound stiff once the red light is on. We work on script delivery, pacing and pauses so the message sounds like you talking to one person, not reading to a room.

Live stream and webinar hosts

Hosting live means no second take, so habits matter more. We practise introductions and openings, the first thirty seconds from greeting to key message, and how to recover calmly when a line goes wrong. Daniel Brooks, who has run live broadcasts for regional businesses, leads this work.

Teams recording together

Colleagues who share the job of recording training videos or hosting webinars can join a half-day team workshop. Priya Nair designs these sessions so everyone practises on their own material and the group leaves with a common rehearsal routine and consistent habits.

Nervous beginners welcome

Feeling awkward on camera is the usual starting point, not a problem to hide. Sessions are friendly and unhurried, with encouragement built into the feedback. You will hear what already works before we change anything, and small steps are treated as real progress.

Before you start

What to bring and what to expect

A little preparation makes the first session more useful. Here is what helps you get the most from individual coaching or a team workshop.

  • A real script to practise

Bring a script or notes you actually need to record. Working on genuine material means the pacing and emphasis changes carry straight into your next video.

  • Time to repeat takes

Improvement comes from repetition. Set aside enough time to read the same passage several ways and listen to the differences between them.

  • Openness to feedback

Notes are given kindly and specifically. You are asked to try small changes and judge for yourself what feels natural.

  • Your usual equipment

If you have a camera, phone, microphone or teleprompter, bring or describe it. We can adapt the advice to the setup you already use.

  • An example you dislike

A clip where you felt uncomfortable is a useful starting point. It shows us where eyeline, pace or posture are working against you.

  • No prior experience needed

There are no prerequisites beyond reading aloud in comfortable English. Beginners and regular presenters work through the same core skills.

How practice works

From first rehearsal to a routine you can repeat

Each coaching cycle follows the same pattern so you always know what comes next. You read, review and adjust, then take materials home to keep practising. The aim is a routine that works without us in the room.

  1. Share your goals and material

You tell us what you record or host, who watches it and what feels difficult. We read your script or outline and agree which skills to focus on first, such as pacing, eyeline or openings.

    What you leave with

A short list of focus areas for your sessions

  2. Record a first run-through

You read your material on camera, with or without a teleprompter. We keep this take as a starting point and note what already sounds clear before suggesting any change.

    What you leave with

A baseline recording to compare against later

  3. Work through guided exercises

Using that take, we practise pauses, emphasis, scroll speed and where to look. You repeat short passages with small adjustments until the new habit feels natural rather than forced.

    What you leave with

Two or three habits you can use in your next recording

  4. Receive feedback and practice materials

After the session you get written feedback covering what improved and what to keep working on. Practice exercise packs are shared with it, so you have clear tasks between sessions.

    What you leave with

Written notes and a set of practice exercises

  5. Build your rehearsal routine

Together we shape a simple warm-up and run-through you can repeat before every recording or broadcast. You test it on a fresh script and adjust it to fit your schedule.

    What you leave with

A personal pre-recording routine you can repeat
