Questions about the coaching

These are the questions learners ask most before starting. If yours is not here, send it through the contact page and we will answer it directly.

Do I need any experience before starting?

No. The programme starts from the basics of reading aloud and speaking to a lens, so first-time presenters are as welcome as people who record regularly. What matters is having real material to work on and being willing to repeat takes. We adjust the pace to where you are rather than expecting a fixed level.

What is the difference between individual sessions and team workshops?

Individual sessions focus on your own delivery, eyeline and scripts, with feedback aimed at one person. Team workshops are half-day group sessions for colleagues who record training videos or host webinars together. Priya Nair designs them so the group practises shared habits and leaves with a common routine.

What should I prepare for the first session?

Bring a script or notes you genuinely need to record, and describe the equipment you use. If you have a clip you felt uneasy about, bring that too. You do not need to memorise anything. Having material that matters to you makes the practice more useful from the first minutes.

How is feedback delivered after a session?

Feedback is shared in writing after every session. It notes what worked, what to change and which exercises to repeat. Practice materials come with it, so you know what to do before the next session. You can reread the notes whenever you prepare a new recording.

Will I practise with a teleprompter?

Yes, if it suits your work. Teleprompter practice covers scroll speed, reading steadily and keeping your eyes on the lens without looking stiff. Daniel Brooks teaches setup and habits. If you do not use one, we work from printed or on-screen scripts instead.

What practice exercises will I receive?

Exercise packs include pacing drills, pause marking on a script, eyeline checks and short openings to repeat on camera. They are written to be done in small blocks between sessions. You will be told which ones matter most for your goals rather than receiving everything at once.

How do I get ready for my first recorded presentation?

Read your script aloud several times, mark pauses and key words, and check where your eyes will rest. Frame the shot, record a short test and watch it back. Use the warm-up from your rehearsal routine, then record in short sections rather than one long take.

Can I expect a guaranteed result?

No result can be promised, because progress depends on practice. Most learners notice a steadier pace, clearer pauses and more comfortable eyeline as they repeat the exercises. We describe realistic next steps after each session so you can see your own progress.
